Why doesn't Dr. Wilder accept insurance?
A thorough explanation of discounted managed care's adverse impact on healthcare quality, service, and options is beyond the scope of this web page. However, Dr. Wilder summarizes her position as follows:
"I am committed to providing my patients with the finest possible healthcare. Insurers, however, by excessively discounting and erecting unreasonable administrative barriers to physician payment, have forced providers to greatly increase patient volume. This, in turn, has resulted in rushed, superficial appointments, weak doctor-patient relationships, and a diminished level of care and service. Rather than accept this as the status quo and possibly compromise the health of my patients, I have elected to withdraw from the insurance payer system. I do this to create an environment where my patients' interests are the only interests I need consider—where I am free to serve them with all my skill and knowledge undiminished and unbiased by 'outside' influence."
I wish to see Dr. Wilder, what are my payment options?
Patients seeing Dr. Wilder are required to pay for their care at the time of treatment. As a courtesy, LifeScape submits these patients' claims to their respective insurers for out-of-network coverage. Each insurer then reimburses the patient according to its plans and policies. Responsibility for coverage determination and collection remains with the patient.
Do LifeScape's other providers accept insurance?
Yes, LifeScape's other providers accept several major health plans and, if you desire, will seamlessly assume responsibility for your healthcare. If you are currently seeing Dr. Wilder and wish to transfer your care to another LifeScape provider, simply notify our staff at the time you schedule an appointment. If I transfer my care to one of LifeScape's other providers, may I still see Dr. Wilder periodically if I feel I need to?
Yes, you may see Dr. Wilder on an as-needed basis subject to her payment policy. Further, it is completely appropriate for you to select whichever provider best meets your needs at any given moment. LifeScape exists to serve you, not the contrary.
